THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Some of you may be aware that President Barack Obama will be addressing ALL public school children nationwide via school television on Tuesday September 8th, 2009 - the day after Labor Day. The nature of this address is still unknown but some of the preliminary information looks suspicious. Many public school parents have indicated they will not send their children to school on that Tuesday, and will collect their children's assignments this Friday before the three-day weekend. Unfortunately, many public school parents will not be notified about this until it's too late, as many public schools have opted to hold off notifying parents until this Sunday, via an automated phone message.
What you may not know is that many of the nation's Catholic schools will also be carrying the president's address. It has come to the knowledge of The Catholic Knight that some Catholic schools throughout the nation will allow the individual teachers to decide for themselves whether or not to show the president's address to their classrooms. Parents may, or may not, be notified of this. The only way to find out if your children's Catholic school is participating is to call the local school office and ask.
