TSA at JFK allows Nigerian national to board plane, fly to LA with no ticket, no boarding pass, no ID, was only noticed after complaints about his BO

.
A Nigerian national sailed through without a blink-not even a ticket-within days of a dying, 95 year old American woman being detained and aggressively searched for 45 minutes by Obama personnel to guard against terrorism. He was only noticed by flight attendants after 2 passengers "complained about his body odor."...

6/30/11, "Authorities Investigate Security Breach At JFK After Man Flies To L.A. Without Ticket Or ID," CBS Local

"How could it happen?

The FBI is investigating a major security breach at John F. Kennedy International Airport. Someone boarded a plane with a college ID and a bogus boarding pass he found on a subway train, reports CBS 2’s Hazel Sanchez.

What authorities say Nigerian national Olajide Noibi pulled off was thought by many travelers to be impossible.

For what we’ve been going through since 9/11, it’s intolerable,” Astoria resident Nicholas Christopher said.

“It’s very scary, especially when there’s thousands of people who travel every day,” added Long Island resident Elana Kaminsky.

Law enforcement officials say big mistakes were made on Friday. Noibi passed Transportation Security Administration screening at JFK and boarded Virgin American Flight 415 bound for Los Angeles, with a University of Michigan ID and with an

  • expired boarding pass that belonged to someone else.
“That’s not great at all because then anybody can go through it,” traveler Julian Zapata said.

New York Congressman Peter King, Chairman of the Homeland Security Committee, is calling for an internal investigation. He said we’re lucky this doesn’t appear to be a terror plot.

I have never seen a case with so many unanswered questions. Nothing here adds up. All this can do is hurt morale. All this can do is hurt public confidence. And the public should be mad. There’s no excuse for this,” Rep. King said.

“We’re talking about life and death here. This guy could have been a terrorist, could have been, God knows what he could’ve been, so if he’s testing the system, he certainly found out a lot here.”

The security breach wasn’t noticed until the Virgin American flight was off the ground.

Flight attendants realized Noibi was sitting in a seat that should have been vacant and after checking the name on his boarding pass they found it didn’t match his ID. Investigators said the boarding pass belonged to a man who said it went missing from his pocket on his way to the airport on June 23.

In a statement the airline said it “…at no time felt there was any threat to the security of the flight. The airline self-reported this incident to the authorities as soon as

  • the issue was identified onboard.”

“It’s really bad. It’s really dangerous for everybody,” traveler Andrea Benavides said.

The FBI said Noibi stayed in L.A. for four days and then tried to pull the same stunt on a Delta flight to Atlanta, again, with no valid ID or boarding pass.

But security officers caught him with 10 expired boarding passes in his possession and he was taken into custody.

  • He was charged with being a stowaway,

but not under any terror or security laws. He faces a federal court hearing Saturday.

“Let’s find out where the mistake came from and let’s fix it,” Scarsdale resident Chris Peckett.

WCBS 880′s Peter Haskell: They Used To Check IDs At The Gate

The TSA confirmed Noibi was screened by its agents, but would not comment further on the ongoing investigation.

“Every passenger that passes through security checkpoints is subject to many layers of security including thorough physical screening at the checkpoint,” TSA spokesman Greg Soule said. “TSA’s review of this matter indicates that

"Noibi's presence on the flight only became known after two other passengers complained about his body odor, the FBI said. Then the flight crew noticed Noibi was in Seat 3E, which was supposed to be empty."...

The daughter of the dying 95 year old woman burst into tears at how her mother was being treated. The crying outburst was considered a suspicious action by the TSA thereby forcing the daughter to be patted down:

6/28/11, "TSA stands by officers after pat-down of elderly woman in Florida," CNN

"Weber said the two were traveling June 18 from northwest Florida to Michigan, so her mother could move in with relatives before eventually going to an assisted living facility.

"My mother is very ill, she has a form of leukemia," Weber said. "She had a blood transfusion the week before, just to bolster up her strength for this travel."

While going through security, the 95-year-old was taken by a TSA officer into a glassed-in area, where a pat-down was performed, Weber said. An agent told Weber "they felt something suspicious on (her mother's) leg and they couldn't determine what it was" -- leading them to take her into a private, closed room.

Soon after, Weber said, a TSA agent came out and told her that her mother's Depend undergarment was "wet and it was firm, and they couldn't check it thoroughly." The mother and daughter left to find a bathroom, at the TSA officer's request, to take off the adult diaper.

Weber said she burst into tears during the ordeal, forcing her own pat-down and other measures in accordance with TSA protocol. But she said her mother, a nurse for 65 years, "was very calm" despite being bothered by the fact that she had to go through the airport without underwear.

Eventually, Weber said she asked for her mother to be whisked away to the boarding gate without her, because their plane was scheduled to leave in two minutes and

  • Weber was still going through security."...

Obama all time low among poor, scores better among the very rich-Gallup Poll

.
6/30/11, "Gallup: Obama Hits All-Time Low Among Poor; Approval Comparatively Highest Among Rich," CNS News, Terence P. Jeffrey

"
President Barack Obama’s approval has hit an all-time low among the poorest Americans, according to the Gallup poll. Meanwhile, when compared to the other income brackets reported by Gallup,
  • Obama's approval is highest among the richest Americans.

In the week of June 20-26--the most recent week published by Gallup--only 45 percent of Americans in the lowest income bracket reported by the polling company (those earning less than $2,000 per month) said they approved of the job Obama was doing as president.

Gallup publishes the president’s weekly approval numbers among Americans in four income brackets: those earning less than $2,000 per month, those earning between $2,000 and $4,999 per month, those earning between $5,000 and $7,499

  • and those earning more than $7,500.

In Gallup's most recent survey, Obama had majority approval in none of these income brackets.

However, of the four, his approval was highest--47 percent--in the richest bracket, those earning more than $7,500 per month.

His approval rating last was 42 percent among those earning $2,000 to $4,999 per month and 43 percent among those earning $5,000 to $7,499 per month.

Prior to last week, when it hit an all-time low of 45 percent, Obama’s approval rating among the poorest bracket reported by Gallup had never dropped below 47 percent. It had hit that level twice: first in the week of Nov. 8-14, 2010; then again in the week of April 25-May 1.

In addition to being at an all-time low among the poorest Americans, Obama’s approval rating is also nearly at an all-time low among the next poorest group of Americans reported by Gallup, those who earn between $2,000 and $4,999 per month. The only time his approval among this group was lower than the 42 percent it was last week was in the week of Aug. 23-29, 2010, when it dropped to 41 percent.

According to Gallup, Obama’s highest approval rating among the poorest Americans came in the week of March 16-22, 2009, just two months after he was inaugurated and one month after he signed his $787-billion economic stimulus law. That week, his approval was 68 percent among Americans earning

  • less than $2,000 per month.

In March 2009, the unemployment rate in the United States was 8.6 percent. This month, it is 9.1 percent."

Early rising

Early morning, its summer, it's time to go to work. And I am on my way to work. A place where I can relax my thoughts. Less troubled by in-originality. A place where I can rest from that daunting thing called "destiny".

I hope you have a good day. :)

The Minnesota "Sustainable Energy" Scam: From T. Paw to T. Boone

The Minnesota "Sustainable Energy" Scam

Jim Fetzer

The "Sustainable Energy" Billboard

It was my pleasure to interview Mary Hartman and Kristi Rosenquist on "The Real Deal", an internet radio program I host on M/W/F from 5-7 PM/CT, which took place on 17 June 2011 and has been archived at http://radiofetzer.blogspot.com. I was taken aback to discover that the sustainable energy program in Minnesota is by and large a scam designed to enrich the Texas billionaire, T. Boone Pickins.

I learned from them that a program being sold to the residents of Minnesota as an "environmentally friendly" enterprise actually appears to conceal a major rip-off of the public, where the purchase of land for wind mills is being use as a front to conceal taking control of mineral and water rights. The scam is so bad that the utility monitoring the production of energy has been derelict.

Not only has the utility not been properly monitoring output but the cost of the energy that is being consumed by these enormous devices -- the windmills themselves -- has not been taken into account in determining their output, which is a fraud in itself. Without knowing the cost of production, the actual benefit is unknown.

In addition, these enormous structures are littering the landscape of rural areas in a way reminiscent of grotesque horns extruding from the earth. The sound is bad enough, but the effects upon health of the vibrations they are generating has yet to be measured. It appears to be both serious and enduring -- a bad combination!

A "Tipped" Turbine for Your Yard

While former Governor Tim Pawlenty wants to take credit for this "green" initiative, I believe that anyone who looks into what is actually going on will discover that it is as terrible a scam as Minnesota has ever known. If it is not brought to a halt now, there is scant change the state will ever recover -- and the citizens of the land of 10,000 lakes may actually have to pay for its own water.

The idea of producing 25% of the state's energy using sustainable resources by the year 2025 as the "25 x 25" program appears to have been a marketing mechanism to conceal the real objective, which is converting state resources to private benefit -- a disgrace being promoted as a benefit, which means that what's really going on here is a massive scam. Remember that green is also the color of money.

Here is a link to the interview. I urge every American who cares about their own state to listen and weep. This is a tragedy in the making, which puts the lie to politicians and officials who are selling the states most precious resources -- its land, minerals, and water -- to private investors who stand to make fabulous profits at the public's expense:

http://nwopodcast.com/fetz/media/jim%20fetzer%20real%20deal-hartman%20rosenquest.mp3

Here's a summary of what Kristi and Mary have turned up, but it's only a summary. For more details and exposure of what's really going on, listen to the interview. It runs 100 minutes -- four segments of 25 minutes apiece -- and you will never feel the same way about "green" projects being promoted by the state! It's simply stunning.

From T. Paw to T. Boone

Kristi Rosenquist with Mary Hartman

Government of the lobbyist by the lawyer for the benefit of industrial wind developers is a serious problem. Touted to protect the environment, the Minnesota 2007 Renewable Energy Standard is instead enriching out-of-state corporations on the backs of Minnesotans.

The New Generation Energy Act was a Governor’s Initiative championed by Tim Pawlenty. Edward Garvey & Christine Brusven wrote the MN Renewable Energy Standard (RES), then shepherded it through the legislature for Governor Pawlenty. Now Mr. Garvey is a principal at WeberJohnson lobbying for wind energy. Ms. Brusven is the lawyer for Texas billionaire T. Boone Picken’s company, AWA Goodhue LLC. Her firm, Fredrickson & Byron, is a WeberJohnson client. They wrote the law, now they lawyer and lobby for the beneficiaries of the law.

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
And whose home is being destroyed thereby

The RES requires utilities to get 25% or their energy from renewable sources 2025. The law exempts wind from the normal checks and balances required of other electrical generation sources. Wind is exempt from showing need, environmental impact, negative effect on rate payers and negative effect on the electrical grid.

The Public Utilities Commission reviews wind development applications with support from the Department of Commerce’s Office of Energy Security. The lawyers and lobbyists did a fine job of writing and tweaking the RES and related laws to force the hand of the Public Utilities Commission and the Office of Energy Security to meet the mandate laid out in a law written entirely for the benefit of wind developers.

This has left Goodhue County and her Townships in the dismal position of having a small amount of power and influence over a poorly defined, untested portion of the wind permitting process. The real stakeholders are left trying to discern reasonable setback distances from houses for 450 foot turbines that reasonably should not exist.

The only reason T. Boone Pickens is signing 30-50 year leases with landowners in Goodhue County is huge financial gain with little or no risk. State mandate, MN Community Based Energy Development (C-BED) tariff on rate payers, federal subsidies, federal production tax credit, ten year depreciation, federal tax shelters, current transmission capacity in Goodhue, and the MN Flip business model do nothing to reduce carbon. Pickens declared in 2008 that his 68,000 acre ranch located in the Texas Panhandle, one of America’s windiest regions, will not have a single turbine. “I’m not going to have the windmills on my ranch," he said. "They’re ugly.”

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
And even more so when they are fried . . .

I spoke with Shane Myre at Governor Pawlenty’s office both by phone and in person. Mr. Myre assured me that he passed on my concerns to the Governor. He also assured me there was no chance Governor Pawlenty would meet with the citizens of Goodhue County to hear our concerns. The results of Pawlenty’s Governor’s initiative are a fiasco.

Tim Pawlenty is a fiscal conservative on most issues. When it comes to wind-generated electricity, Tim Pawlenty is generous with tax and rate payers’ money to fund the feel-good illusion that industrial wind turbines will reduce carbon emissions. Lots of money combined with the expertise and inside track of Pawlenty’s former Commerce Department staff make Minnesota the perfect target for a billionaire with a few hundred extra turbines. That’s why I say, “Pickens gets the gold mine; we get the turbine shaft. Thanks T. Paw.”

Mary Hartman and Kristi Rosenquist are long-time residents of Minnesota who believe that citizens can contribute to better government as long as they keep informed.

High incidence of Islamists raping Norwegian girls and women, scholar says is women's fault, must consider culture

.
Rapist says 'his religion' allows him to rape. "Norwegian women must take their share of responsibility for these rapes" because Muslim men found their manner of dress provocative."...(paragraph 10, "Asking for it," Mark Steyn)

6/23/11, "Police Report: All Assault Rapists in Oslo Follow Muhammad," Arutz Sheva (Israel National News), Gil Ronen

"Defenders of Islam call it a "religion of peace" but many Norwegian women are learning that Islam is the religion of rape. According to an amazing (Oslo) police report released there this month, every single solved case of assault-rape (rape preceded by assault) in the country in 2010 was carried out by a Muslim immigrant.

The report was cited by an official Norwegian television station, which interviewed a victim who said that her
  • rapist explained to her that his religion permits him to rape her.
According to the police report there was a total of 186 of known rape cases in 2010. These fall into various categories, the largest one of which is assault-rape, carried out by sheer physical force, of which there were 86 cases. In 83 of these cases the perpetrator could be identified by the victim. In all 83, the attacker was described as having "non-western appearance," a laundered euphemism for Muslim immigrants from Africa, the Middle East, or Asia....

(Note: the translation of the Norwegian TV report embedded here does not make a distinction between "assault rape" and other forms of rape, and appears to confuse the statistics for 2010 with those for 2006-2010).

A female police officer who commented on the report explained that “Many of the perpetrators who commit these rapes are on the edge of society often unemployed, arriving from traumatized countries. In the past five years it has often been asylum seekers.”..."...
  • (Meaning you must understand their feelings. ed.)
(continuing, Arutz Sheva): "A report in Aftenposten in 2001 said: “While 65% of those charged with rape are classed as coming from a non-western background, this segment makes up only 14.3% of Oslo's population. Norwegian women were the victims in 80 percent of the cases.”

“In other words,” says the New American, “Muslims from Africa and other benighted Third World places are targeting Western women for rape.” It elaborates:
“In 2005, the blogger Fjordman reported on a similar rape wave in Sweden. A crime prevention study that year reported that Algerians, Libyans, Moroccans, and Tunisians ‘dominate the group of rape suspects,’ he reported. The same year, the newspaper Aftonbladet reported that nearly half of all rapists were immigrants.”
Yehuda Bello, an Israeli blogger who is well-acquainted with Norwegian culture, noted the report and claimed that Norwegians are a culture that suffers from “extreme boredom” due to the presence of huge oil reserves, and are thus inordinately interested in multiculturalism and assorted “human rights” campaigns."...via Gateway Pundit

"According violence researcher Ragnhild Bjørnebekk the Police Academy in Oslo (Norway), gang rape has historically been very rare in Norway and in Scandinavia , but has increased as a phenomenon since 1997. When several are together on the rape, the violence is often more serious:

- The people applaud each other and communicate in a way that violence can be rougher. You are doing each other up, and in some contexts it can end in murder, she says.

Assaults and rapes are often planned, although the idea of making it can be impulsive, and people who rape have a cynical attitude towards women.

- They see rape as exciting, and perceive it as wrong in relation to themselves, says the researcher....

At the same time says the report from the Oslo police that the figures for 2010 show that 19.7% of the rapists [including domestic rape, date rape and assault rape] came from Africa, 15.1% from the Middle East and 14.1% from Asia. Since the Middle East, partly located in Africa and partly in Asia, it means that 48.9% of rapes had perpetrator of one of these two continents.

17.4% of the population is thus for 48.9% of rapes, which is a huge over-representation: The rape rate is between four and five times greater in the group of people from Africa and Asia than in the general population.

Right Psychiatrist Michael Setsaas ideas are not alone in believing that cultural differences may explain the non-western men are overrepresented on rape statistics:

In 2009 launched the Immigration Directorate (UDI), a new project where young asylum seekers to learn about Norwegian women and the Western view of sexuality through education film "My body". Immigration took the initiative to make the film, which will help young asylum seekers of women , sexuality and contraception. The reason for the UDI's action was the Oslo police report showed that asylum seekers were over-represented in terms of particular assault rape....

Jan Opsal at Mission College in Stavanger, with sharp criticism of how asylum seekers will be introduced to the Norwegian society. Also Opsal is of the opinion that the extreme over-representation in part due to cultural background and of women:

- The entire reception apparatus and reception centers must take more seriously to give asylum seekers coming to Norway better introductory course on the Norwegian society and how the Norwegian women ter, says Opsal to NRK....

- The goal must be that asylum seekers are learning to tell the difference between the sexes tradition they come from and who they will. They must learn that Norwegian women are no worse than Muslim women are fair game, even if they behave differently than they are accustomed to, said Opsal.

Religious Researcher January Opsal explains Muslim men's views on women in this way.

- Women who are married belong to his childhood home until she finds a husband, and will not usually travel alone in public. The woman must protect her honor with a view to a future marriage. She breaks these limits, it means that she also breaks his own respect, and thus also their right to keep the boundaries around themselves, explains Opsal.

Opsal said that a Muslim from the Islamic ethics is not entitled to assaults against a woman, but when this occurs has religion scholar this explanation.

- A lone Muslim asylum seeker coming from a society with strict restrictions on how women ready themselves and walk in the public space, will interpret the behavior of Norwegian women as an invitation to try out. When he is rejected, this may be the result of frustration and anger, says religion researcher in January Opsal.

Opsal and Setsaas supported by a police sergeant and a specialist in Opsal and Setsaas supported by a police sergeant and a specialist in investigations of sexual abuse, Tor Erik Riska Thorsen Rogaland Police District, which also states that non-Western men's over representation in terms of rape due to background in cultures of ancient women and little openness about sexuality."...

There's also an economist at the University of Michigan who has studied diversity and decision making and has found that at every business decision, diversity leads to better decisions. In other words, a group of all white men are not gonna reach the best decisions. There's something about a group of men and testosterone, you know, making risky decisions that's very real. Review: Capote (2005)

A great visual piece of cinema history.

About Truman Capote, when he wrote the book “in cold blood”. He worked sort of a journalist digging up the story about 2 men who broke into a family home and killed the entire family. It happened in a small town where murders never happen.

The story is about how it changed him as a person, but also about two worlds collide, the criminal and the happy small town. And also about the people who did the horrible crime.

I have read the book, and it is good (no way near as good as Capote thought it was however).

The best part of this movie is Philip Hoffman Seymores performance (that won a Oscar award). He IS Capote! Really amazing performance.

Homeland Security's 30 Tips for Emergency Preparedness

Arizona and other parts of the West are on fire. There is flooding around the country. Rivers are cresting and breaching levees. Tornadoes have wrecked havoc and death upon areas that have seen no mercy. Yes, that's in America.

And in other places around the world, like in Japan, the poor people effected by Mother Nature's wrath are digging their way out slowly but surely. In Japan, it is the testament to a great and noble people that they are working as hard as they are to overcome the devastation that was set upon them.

People are resilient. We endure and we prevail. And yes, sometimes it ain't bad to get a few tips that will help us through emergencies.

Because of what is happening in the world around us, I've gone to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security and copied their recommendation for us.

Here are their 30 tips to help you and your family, all of us, become better prepared for an emergency.

Preparedness Tip #1

Prepare escape routes and prepare your emergency plan.

Take a moment to imagine that there is an emergency, like a fire in your home, and you need to leave quickly. What are the best escape routes from your home? Find at least two ways out of each room. Now, write it down — you’ve got the beginning of a plan.

Preparedness Tip #2

Pick a place to meet after a disaster.

Designate two meeting places.

Choose one right outside your home, in case of a sudden household emergency, such as a fire. The second place you choose needs to be outside your neighborhood, in the event that it is not safe to stay near or return to your home.

Preparedness Tip #3

Choose an emergency contact person outside your area because it may be easier to call long distance than locally after a local/regional disaster.

Take a minute now to call or e-mail an out-of-town friend or family member to ask him or her to be your family’s designated contact in the event of an emergency. Be sure to share the contact's phone number with everyone in the family. During an emergency, you can call your contact who can share with other family members where you are; how you are doing; and how to get in contact with you.

Preparedness Tip #4

Complete an emergency contact card and make copies for each member of your family to carry with them.

Be sure to include an out-of-town contact on your contact card. It may be easier to reach someone out of town if local phone lines are out of service or overloaded. You should also have at least one traditionally wired landline phone, as cordless or cellular phones may not work in an emergency. Visit www.redcross.org or www.ready.gov for sample emergency contact cards.

Preparedness Tip #5

Dogs may be man’s best friend, but due to health regulations, most emergency shelters cannot house animals. Find out in advance how to care for your pets and working animals when disaster strikes. Pets should not be left behind, but could be taken to a veterinary office, family member’s home or animal shelter during an emergency. Also be sure to store extra food and water for pets. For more information, visit the Animal Safety section on www.redcross.org or visit the Humane Society Web site at www.hsus.org

Preparedness Tip #6

Go through your calendar now, and put a reminder on it — every six months — to review your plan, update numbers, and check supplies to be sure nothing has expired, spoiled, or changed. Also remember to practice your tornado, fire escape or other disaster plans.

Preparedness Tip #7

Check your child’s school Web site or call the school office to request a copy of the school’s emergency plan.

Keep a copy at home and work or other places where you spend a lot of your time and make sure the school’s plan is incorporated into your family’s emergency plan. Also, learn about the disaster plans at your workplace or other places where you and your family spend time.

Preparedness Tip #8

Teach your children how and when to call 9-1-1 or your local Emergency Medical Services number for help.

Post these and other emergency telephone numbers by telephones.

Preparedness Tip #9

Practice. Conduct fire drills and practice evacuating your home twice a year. Drive your planned evacuation route and plot alternate routes on a map in case main roads are blocked or gridlocked. Practice earthquake and tornado drills at home, school and work. Commit a weekend to update telephone numbers, emergency supplies and review your plan with everyone.

Preparedness Tip #10

A community working together during an emergency makes sense.

•Talk to your neighbors about how you can work together during an emergency.
•Find out if anyone has specialized equipment like a power generator, or expertise such as medical knowledge, that might help in a crisis.
•Decide who will check on elderly or disabled neighbors.
•Make back-up plans for children in case you can't get home in an emergency.

Sharing plans and communicating in advance is a good strategy

Preparedness Tip #11

What if disaster strikes while you’re at work? Do you know the emergency preparedness plan for your workplace? While many companies have been more alert and pro-active in preparing for disasters of all types since the September 11, 2001 attacks, a national survey indicates that many employees still don’t know what their workplace plan is for major or minor disasters. If you don’t know yours, make a point to ask. Know multiple ways to exit your building, participate in workplace evacuation drills, and consider keeping some emergency supplies at the office. Visit www.ready.gov and click on Ready Business for more information about business preparedness.

Preparedness Tip #12

You should keep enough supplies in your home to meet the needs of you and your family for at least three days. Build an emergency supply kit to take with you in an evacuation. The basics to stock in your portable kit include: water, food, battery-powered radio and flashlight with extra batteries, first aid supplies, change of clothing, blanket or sleeping bag, wrench or pliers, whistle, dust mask, plastic sheeting and duct tape, trash bags, map, a manual can opener for canned food and special items for infants, elderly, the sick or people with disabilities. Keep these items in an easy to carry container such as a covered trash container, a large backpack, or a duffle bag.

Preparedness Tip #13

Preparing for emergencies needn’t be expensive if you’re thinking ahead and buying small quantities at a time.

Make a list of some foods that:

•Have a long shelf-life and will not spoil (non-perishable).
•You and your family like.
•Do not require cooking.
•Can be easily stored.
•Have a low salt content as salty foods will make you more thirsty.

Keep the list in your purse or wallet and pick up a few items each time you’re shopping and/or see a sale until you have built up a well-stocked supply that can sustain each member of your family for at least three days following an emergency.

Preparedness Tip #14

Take a minute to check your family’s first aid kit, and note any depleted items — then, add them to your shopping list. Don’t have a first aid kit? Add that to the list or build a kit yourself. Just add the following items to your shopping list and assemble a first aid kit. Consider creating a kit for each vehicle as well:

First Aid Kits - Assemble a first aid kit for your home and one for each car.

•(20) adhesive bandages, various sizes
•(1) 5" x 9" sterile dressing
•(1) conforming roller gauze bandage
•(2) triangular bandages
•(2) 3 x 3 sterile gauze pads
•(2) 4 x 4 sterile gauze pads
•(1) roll 3" cohesive bandage
•(2) germicidal hand wipes or waterless alcohol-based hand sanitizer
•(6) antiseptic wipes
•(2) pair large medical grade non-latex gloves
•Adhesive tape, 2" width
•Anti-bacterial ointment
•Cold pack
•Scissors (small, personal)
•Tweezers
•CPR breathing barrier, such as a face shield
•First Aid Manual

Non-Prescription and Prescription Drugs

•Aspirin or non-aspirin pain reliever
•Anti-diarrhea medication
•Antacid (for stomach upset)
•Syrup of Ipecac (use to induce vomiting if advised by the Poison Control Center)
•Laxative
•Activated charcoal (use if advised by the Poison Control Center)
•Prescription drugs, as recommended by your physician, and copies of the prescriptions in case they need to be replaced

Preparedness Tip #15

Keep at least a three-day supply of water per person. Store a minimum of one gallon of water per person per day (two quarts for drinking, two quarts for food preparation and sanitation). Store water in plastic containers such as soft drink bottles. Avoid using containers that will decompose or break, such as milk cartons or glass bottles. A normally active person needs to drink at least two quarts of water each day. Hot environments and strenuous activity can double that amount. Children, nursing mothers, and people who are sick will also need more.

Preparedness Tip #16

One of the easiest ways you can prepare for emergencies is to keep some supplies readily available. Every kit is unique and can be tailored to meet the specific needs of your family, but below is a general list of supplies you may want to consider:

Tools and Supplies (Essential Items are Marked with an Asterisk *)

•Mess kits, or paper cups, plates, and plastic utensils
•Emergency preparedness manual and a copy of your disaster plan, including your emergency contacts list
•Battery-operated radio and extra batteries*
•Flashlight and extra batteries*
•Cash or traveler's checks, change*
•Non-electric can opener, utility knife*
•Fire extinguisher: small ABC type stored near where fires are likely to occur such as a kitchen, or near a fireplace. It should not be kept in the disaster supplies kit.
•Tube tent
•Duct Tape*
•Compass
•Matches in a waterproof container
•Aluminum foil
•Plastic storage containers
•Signal flare
•Paper, pencil*
•Needles, thread
•Medicine dropper
•Shut-off wrench or pliers, to turn off household gas and water
•Whistle*
•Plastic sheeting*
•Map of the area (for locating shelters and evacuation routes)

(Continued in the next tip)

Preparedness Tip #17

Also include items for sanitation in your emergency supply kit. Consider the following:

Sanitation (Essential Items are Marked with an Asterisk *)

•Toilet paper, towelettes*
•Soap, liquid detergent*
•Feminine supplies*
•Personal hygiene items*
•Plastic garbage bags, ties (for personal sanitation uses)*
•Plastic bucket with tight lid
•Disinfectant
•Household chlorine bleach

(Continued in the next tip)

Preparedness Tip #18

Include at least one complete change of clothing and footwear per person in your emergency supply kit. We suggest long pants and long sleeves for additional protection after a disaster.

Clothing and Bedding (Essential Items are Marked with an Asterisk *

•Sturdy shoes or work boots*
•Rain gear*
•Blankets or sleeping bags*
•Hat and gloves
•Thermal underwear
•Sunglasses

Preparedness Tip #19

You should also keep a smaller version of your emergency supply kit in your vehicle, in case you are commuting or traveling when disaster strikes.

Emergency Kit For Your Vehicle

•Bottled water and non-perishable high energy foods, such as granola bars, raisins and peanut butter
•Flashlight and extra batteries
•Blanket
•Booster cables
•Fire extinguisher (5 lb., A-B-C type)
•First aid kit and manual
•Maps
•Shovel
•Tire repair kit and pump
•Flares or other emergency marking devices

Preparedness Tip #20

Teach children how to dial 9-1-1 in an emergency. Review emergency action steps with all family members:

•Check the scene and the victim
•Call 9-1-1 or your local emergency number posted by the telephone
•Care for the victim

Help your children learn more about emergencies by visiting Red Cross' "Masters of Disaster."

Preparedness Tip #21

Read the information on your city, county and/or state government Web sites as well as the “Be Prepared” section of www.redcross.org or Ready.gov and print emergency preparedness information. Be sure to keep a copy with your disaster supplies kit. It can provide telephone numbers, addresses and other information you need when electronic connections are not available options for obtaining the information.

Preparedness Tip #22

When water is of questionable purity, it is easiest to use bottled water for drinking and cooking if it is available. When it’s not available, it is important to know how to treat contaminated water. In addition to having a bad odor and taste, water from questionable sources may be contaminated by a variety of microorganisms, including, bacteria and parasites that cause diseases such as dysentery, cholera, typhoid, and hepatitis.

All water of uncertain purity should be treated before use. Use one or a combination of these treatments:

•Filter: Filter the water using a piece of cloth or coffee filter to remove solid particles.
•Boil: Bring it to a rolling boil for about one full minute. Cool it and pour it back and forth between two clean containers to improve its taste before drinking it.
•Chlorinate:

◦Add 16 drops (1/8 teaspoon) of liquid chlorine bleach per gallon of water. Stir to mix. Sodium hypochlorite of the concentration of 5.25% to 6% should be the only active ingredient in the bleach. There should not be any added soap or fragrances. A major bleach manufacturer has also added Sodium Hydroxide as an active ingredient, which they state does not pose a health risk for water treatment.

◦Let stand 30 minutes.

◦If it smells of chlorine. You can use it. If it does not smell of chlorine, add 16 more drops (1/8 teaspoon) of chlorine bleach per gallon of water, let stand 30 minutes, and smell it again. If it smells of chlorine, you can use it. If it does not smell of chlorine, discard it and find another source of water.

Flood water can also be contaminated by toxic chemicals. Do NOT try to treat flood water.

Preparedness Tip #23

In some emergencies you may be required to turn off your utilities. To prepare for this type of event:

•Locate the electric, gas and water shut-off valves.
• Keep necessary tools near gas and water shut-off valves
•Teach adult family members how to turn off utilities.

If you turn off the gas, a professional must turn it back on. Do not attempt to do this yourself.

Preparedness Tip #24

Understand that during an emergency you may be asked to “shelter-in-place” or evacuate. Plan for both possibilities and be prepared to listen to instructions from your local emergency management officials. Visit Ready.gov and www.redcross.org/preparedness for more information on sheltering-in-place.

Preparedness Tip #25

A disaster can cause significant financial loss. Your apartment or home may be severely damaged or destroyed. You may be forced to live in temporary housing. Income may be cut off or significantly reduced. Important financial records could be destroyed. Take the time now to assess your situation and ask questions.

To help you, consider using the Emergency Financial First Aid Kit (EFFAK), a tool developed by Operation Hope, FEMA and Citizen Corps or contact your local Red Cross chapter for Disasters and Financial Planning: A Guide for Preparedness.

Preparedness Tip #26

Learn if earthquakes are a risk in your area by contacting your local emergency management office, local American Red Cross chapter, or state geological survey or department of natural resources. Information about earthquake risk is also available from the U.S. Geological Survey National Seismic Hazards project.

Preparedness Tip #27

Floods are among the most frequent and costly natural disasters in terms of human hardship and economic loss. As much as 90 percent of the damage related to all natural disasters (excluding draught) is caused by floods and associated debris flow. Most communities in the United States can experience some kind of flooding. Melting snow can combine with rain in the winter and early spring; severe thunderstorms can bring heavy rain in the spring or summer; or hurricanes can bring intense rainfall to coastal and inland states in the summer and fall. Regardless of how a flood occurs, the rule for being safe is simple: head for higher ground and stay away from floodwater. Even a shallow depth of fast-moving floodwater produces more force than most people imagine. You can protect yourself by being prepared and having time to act. Local radio or television stations or a NOAA Weather Radio are the best sources of information in a flood situation.

Preparedness Tip #28

When there is concern about a potential exposure to a chemical or other airborne hazard, local officials may advise you to "shelter-in-place “ and “seal the room.” This is different from taking shelter on the lowest level of your home in case of a natural disaster like a tornado. If you believe the air may be badly contaminated or if you are instructed by local officials, follow the instructions below to create a temporary barrier between you and the contaminated air outside.

To shelter-in-place and seal-the-room:

•Close and lock all windows and exterior doors.
•Turn off all fans, heating and air conditioning systems.
•Close the fireplace damper.
•Get your disaster supplies kit and turn on your battery-powered radio.
•Go to an interior room that is above ground level and without windows, if possible. In the case of a chemical threat, an above-ground location is preferable because some chemicals are heavier than air, and may seep into basements even if the windows are closed.
•If directed by local authorities on the radio, use duct tape to seal all cracks around the door and any vents into the room. Tape plastic sheeting, such as heavy-duty plastic garbage bags, over any windows.
•Listen to your radio or television for further instructions. Local officials will tell you when you can leave the room in which you are sheltering, or they may call for evacuation in specific areas at greatest risk in your community

Preparedness Tip #29

If there is an explosion:

•Take shelter against your desk or a sturdy table.
•Exit the building immediately.
•Do not use elevators.
•Check for fire and other hazards.
•Take your emergency supply kit if time allows.

If there is a fire:

•Exit the building immediately.
•If there is smoke, crawl under the smoke to the nearest exit and use a cloth, if possible, to cover your nose and mouth.
•Use the back of your hand to feel the upper, lower, and middle parts of closed doors.
•If the door is not hot, brace yourself against it and open slowly.
•If the door is hot, do not open it. Look for another way out.
•Do not use elevators.
•If your clothes catch on fire, stop-drop-and-roll to put out the fire. Do not run.
•If you are at home, go to your previously designated outside meeting place.
•Account for your family members and carefully supervise small children.
•GET OUT and STAY OUT. Never go back into a burning building.
•Call 9-1-1 or your local emergency number.

Preparedness Tip #30

Unlike an explosion, a biological attack may or may not be immediately obvious. Most likely local health care workers will report a pattern of unusual illness or a wave of sick people seeking medical attention. The best source of information will be radio or television reports.

Understand that some biological agents, such as anthrax, do not cause contagious diseases. Others, like the smallpox virus, can result in diseases you can catch from other people.

In the event of a biological attack, public health officials may not immediately be able to provide information on what you should do. It will take time to determine exactly what the illness is, how it should be treated, and who may have been exposed. You should watch TV, listen to the radio, or check the Internet for official news including the following:

•Are you in the group or area authorities believe may have been exposed?
•What are the signs and symptoms of the disease?
•Are medications or vaccines being distributed?
•Where? Who should get them and how?
•Where should you seek emergency medical care if you become sick?

During a declared biological emergency:

•If a family member becomes sick, it is important to be suspicious.
•Do not assume, however, that you should go to a hospital emergency room or that any illness is the result of the biological attack. Symptoms of many common illnesses may overlap.
•Use common sense, practice good hygiene and cleanliness to avoid spreading germs, and seek medical advice.
•Consider if you are in the group or area authorities believe to be in danger.
•If your symptoms match those described and you are in the group considered at risk, immediately seek emergency medical attention.

If you are potentially exposed:

•Follow instructions of doctors and other public health officials.
•If the disease is contagious expect to receive medical evaluation and treatment. You may be advised to stay away from others or even deliberately quarantined.
•For non-contagious diseases, expect to receive medical evaluation and treatment.

If you become aware of an unusual and suspicious substance nearby:

•Quickly get away.
•Protect yourself. Cover your mouth and nose with layers of fabric that can filter the air but still allow breathing. Examples include two to three layers of cotton such as a t-shirt, handkerchief or towel. Otherwise, several layers of tissue or paper towels may help.
•Wash with soap and water.
•Contact authorities.
•Watch TV, listen to the radio, or check the Internet for official news and information including what the signs and symptoms of the disease are, if medications or vaccinations are being distributed and where you should seek medical attention if you become sick.
•If you become sick seek emergency medical attention.

The above information is provided by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

These tips have been copied and posted here so that you can be aware of what the U.S. Department of Homeland Security recommends for us. It is important to know what to do in case of any emergency.

My first rule is remain calm and use common sense. Second, you must think about what needs to be done and act quickly. Don't drag your feet in an emergency, or getting ready for one.

Hesitation is not your friend in an emergency.

Above all else please remember that if you're not completely prepared, don't worry because all is not lost.

If you simply keep focused, keep your head together, adapt to the situation, improvise what you need, then yes, my friend, you will overcome.

May God Bless You And Yours! Be Ready! Be Safe!

Attorney explains 14 factual errors in Time Magazine cover story about the Constitution

.
6/29/11, "Fourteen Clear Factual Errors in Richard Stengel's Essay on the Constitution," (And I Am Looking for Your Help)" Big Journalism, Aaron Worthing

"On June 23, 2011, Time magazine published an essay entitled “One Document, Under Siege” (one page version, here) by Richard Stengel. I consider the publication of this article to be nothing less than a scandal. Besides the deep philosophical disagreements I have with Mr. Stengel, the piece simply fails as journalism. As I will demonstrate in this post, there were fourteen objectively verifiable errors in Mr. Stengel’s piece, half of which could have been discovered simply by reading the Constitution itself.

I will lay out all of the false claims and evidence in a moment, but let me preview the most egregious error in the article, when Mr. Stengel wrote this:

If the Constitution was intended to limit the federal government, it sure doesn’t say so.

As one commenter wrote: “I had to read it twice to believe my eyes. Time really did say this.” And while I will prove definitively in a moment that he is wrong, I suspect every single person reading this knows it already.

The fact that this and thirteen other egregious errors appeared in Time at all is bad enough. But further, it was a cover story....So I will present to you fourteen clear errors Mr. Stengel has made in his article, starting with the most egregious errors. Here are the fourteen errors, in short:

  1. 1. The Constitution does not limit the federal government.
  2. 2. The Constitution is not law.
  3. 3. The Citizenship Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment emancipated the slaves.
  4. 4. The Citizenship Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment granted the right to vote to African Americans.
  5. 5. The original Constitution declared that black people were to be counted as three-fifths of a person.
  6. 6. That the original, unamended Constitution prohibited women from voting.
  7. 7. The Commerce Clause grants Congress the power to tax individuals based on whether they buy a product or service.
  8. 8. Inter arma enim silent leges translates as “in time of war, the Constitution is silent.”
  9. 9. The War Powers Act allows the president to unilaterally wage war for sixty days.
  10. 10. We have only declared war five times.
  11. 11. Alexander Hamilton wanted a king for America.
  12. 12. Social Security is a debt within the meaning of Section Four of the Fourteenth Amendment.
  13. 13. Naturalization depends on your birth.
  14. 14. The ObamaCare mandate is a tax.
It is also scandalous because of who wrote the piece. The author is not only the Managing Editor for Time, but he spent two years as President and CEO of the National Constitution Center. And even today, he works with the National Constitution Center’s Peter Jennings Project for Journalists and the Constitution, whose stated mission is “to help both professional journalists and students interested in journalism understand constitutional issues more deeply.” That is right. He is there to help journalists understand the Constitution better....

"Here, point-by-point, is proof that each one of those claims are incorrect.

False Claim #1: The Constitution does not limit the Federal Government."...

Here is another drawing I did, when I had a headache.
That is why it is simply called "headache".

ATF whistleblower fired by Obama admin. accused of having BO

.
"The termination letter also notes there were complaints about his smoking and “even your hygiene.”...

6/27/11, "'Project Gunrunner' Whistleblower Says ATF Sent Him Termination Notice," Fox News, Maxim Lott

"The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is being accused of retaliating against an agent who helped publicize the agency’s role in allowing thousands of guns to cross the U.S. border and fall into the hands of Mexican drug gangs.

The agent, Vince Cefalu, who has spoken out about the ATF's so-called "Project Gunrunner" scandal, says he was served with termination papers just last week, and he calls the move politically motivated....

Cefalu first told FoxNews.com about the ATF’s embattled anti-gun smuggling operation in December, before the first reports on the story appeared in February. “Simply put, we knowingly let hundreds of guns

Since then, Cefalu’s claims have been vindicated, as a number of agents with first-hand knowledge of the case came forward. The scandal over Project Gunrunner led to congressional hearings, a presidential reprimand – Obama called the operation “a serious mistake” – and speculation that ATF chief Ken Melson will resign.

Yet last week, Cefalu, who has worked for the agency for 24 years, was forced to turn in his gun and badge. He can appeal but will be on “paid administrative leave” during the process.

Cefalu’s dismissal follows a string of allegations that the ATF retaliates against whistleblowers. When the Project Gunrunner scandal broke, Sen. Chuck Grassley, R-Iowa, wrote the ATF that an agent who had been giving his staff members information about the scandal had been

  • "allegedly accused... of misconduct" by the agent’s boss for talking with Grassley’s staffers....

ATF spokesman Drew Wade denied in a statement to FoxNews.com that the bureau is retaliating, but he declined to comment about Cefalu's case. “ATF will not comment on specific, ongoing personnel matters. It is illegal to use disciplinary actions to retaliate against employees, and ATF does not engage in such improper reprisals.”

The ATF's termination letter to Cefalu, obtained by FoxNews.com, makes no mention of Cefalu’s role in the latest scandal.

You think they would just come out and say that?” Cefalu said.

The letter instead says that Cefalu should be fired because he leaked documents on a website he helped create, CleanupATF.org, and showed a “lack of candor” on past projects, in particular a 2005 operation that Cefalu led. Cefalu admits he made information about the case public but says he did so

In the 2005 case, local police wanted to wiretap a suspect to gather evidence, but Cefalu objected, saying it would be illegal to use wiretaps until all other options for gathering evidence had been tried.

Cefalu was then removed from the case. But he continued to speak out and file internal complaints about what he viewed as illegal ATF wiretapping. And that’s when his life became difficult.

“That was the beginning of the end,” Cefalu told FoxNews.com.

“I had never had a disciplinary action in 18 years. Outstanding evaluations -- above average -- and on the 19th year, when I filed a complaint, I get my first unsatisfactory evaluation ever.”...

He received unsatisfactory evaluations complaining about his use of foul language. The termination letter also notes there were complaints about his smoking and “even your hygiene.”...

Cefalu said his work on the Project Gunrunner scandal likely was

  • the last straw for his bosses.

I think it’s obvious why they’re doing this. It was my willingness to expose (Project Gunrunner) and support other people to come forward,” Cefalu said."
