Of the three bishops listed from the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph, McBrien writes: "whose good work the incumbent has done so much to undo." That "current incumbent" is none other than Bishop Robert Finn, whose work I deeply admire. Those of us in Missouri can only hope the current incumbent of the Diocese of Springfield-Cape Girardeau, Bishop James V. Johnston, will someday find himself the target of similar criticism from McBrien, as it would appear to be a badge of honor.
