Obama's Approval Plummets Among Catholics

(LifeNews.com) -- President Barack Obama made it to the White House in part because of Catholic voters. While they backed pro-abortion John Kerry with 47 percent of the vote, they provider a larger 54 percentage-point clip to Obama, who has rewarded them with a laundry list of pro-abortion decisions.

While Obama attempted to convince Catholic voters of his consanguineous relationship with them by saying he wanted to reduce abortions and advocating social justice positions, he's only turning them off a Pew poll shows.

The Pew poll, which showed the most partisan divides between Republicans and Democrats over Obama's approval rating since President Richard Nixon, also took into account Catholic opinion.

Between February and March of this year, Obama's disapproval rating among all Americans rose from 17 to 26 percent. But, among Catholics, the figure shot up from 14% to 28% and from 20% to 41% among white Catholics...

THE CATHOLIC KNIGHT: Hmmm. Let me see if I can take a stab at this mystery. Could it be because Catholic voters are finally starting to wake up to the fact that Barack Obama is a militantly pro-abortion maniac, who has appointed only those who oppose Church teaching to his cabinet? Or maybe it's the overt anti-Catholicism coming out of some of his Whitehouse appointees? Or maybe, it's his insulting and outright offensive acceptance of an honorary degree from Notre Dame University? Oh sure, the president of Notre Dame is off his rocker, and declared war on the Catholic Church, by extending the invitation to Obama in the first place. However, a truly dignified president would recognize how much strife this would cause among a segment of his people, and graciously refuse to appear in order to avoid any unnecessary controversy. Instead Obama seeks to rub it in the Church's face by appearing at Notre Dame and accepting the honorary degree.

Or maybe the reason why Obama's popularity among Catholics is falling is because the U.S. Catholic bishops are FINALLY starting to do their jobs and speak out against the evil policies of this man. Of course, we've also had recent Vatican condemnations as well. So that may play a role too. Of course stories like this don't help much either...
(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama has named to the federal government’s faith-based initiative a gay-rights activist who, last month, described Pope Benedict XVI and certain Catholic bishops as “discredited leaders” because of their opposition to same-sex marriage.

Harry Knox, who is a newly appointed member of Obama’s Advisory Council on Faith-based and Neighborhood Partnerships, is the director of the religion and faith program at the Human Rights Campaign, a homosexual activist group.

In addition to his remarks about the Pope, Knox also criticized the Catholic Knights of Columbus as being “foot soldiers of a discredited army of oppression” because of the Knights’ support of Proposition 8. The latter was a ballot initiative that amended California’s state constitution to define marriage as being between a man and a woman, and passed in November 2008.

Knox told CNSNews.com that he “absolutely” stands by his criticism of the pope.

"The Pope needs to start telling the truth about condom use," Knox said on Monday, Apr. 6. "We are eager to help him do that. Until he is willing to do that and able, he's doing a great deal more harm than good -- not just in Africa but around the world. It is endangering people's lives....

You know, as a "foot soldier of a discredited army of oppression" I might take offense to that comment, were it not for the fact that I've been called worse. Except these comments usually come from militant homosexuals, moral relativists, Muslim activists, frustrated Internet bloggers, or raving lunatic Fundamentalists. I think this may be the first time the Whitehouse has leveled such a charge against me, and my brother knights in the order. The comments don't bother me nearly as much as where they came from. If anybody in the Obama administration even cares about their rating among practicing Catholics, they may want to take into consideration all of the things I've listed above, but most especially appointments like Harry Knox. When men like this gain appointments to the highest offices in the land that advise the president on issues of Faith and Religion, it really gives us a glimpse into the mind of Barack Hussein Obama.
